Born in Vicenza (Italy) in 1966, Dast began his artistic career while studying at the Accademia di Belle Arti, experimenting with several forms of expression ranging from painting to comic strips and body art performances.

His work is rich in detail and symbolism which recalls medieval sacred art seen from an underground comic perspective. Dast's paintings are populated by damned souls, infernal monsters, foetuses with crutches, skulls with eyeballs and other monstrosities which inhabit the artist's unconscious.
